My name is Namka, a name that I took at age 45 when I moved to Tucson, Arizona. A man from the Hopi tribe destined to become a medicine man told me that the name that I had recently taken—Namka–meant “to come together to share and to be at one with” in his language.
Namka reflects that part of me that travels in other dimensions to help others do their deep spiritual work. My exploration in past lives has revealed that I’ve never been an important person but have been a shaman, healer and medicine person several times. I’m not psychic and can’t read the past or future, but am guided by Spirit to know what forms of healing are best for you. I honor your own guidance from those in the spirit world that care about you at all times.
When doing a shamanic ceremony, we focus on your soul and invoke your teachers, sages and guides. I shift my own state of awareness to one of openness and receptivity to call in the spirits and connect into a person’s energetic field and the Greater Universal Field to accomplish healing. Together we create a sacred space where you are honored and held in a basket of love that protects you.
The late medicine man Fools Crow said that we humans are a “little hollow bone” for the energy of the Universe to come through. According to his healing tradition, Fools Crow said that we need to keep our hollow bones “squeaky clean” so that the energies flow through freely. We are to clear the debris—the impediments and blockages that negative events and traumas cause to be lodged in us.
When I become “the hollow bone” I become the vehicle for the healing but the true healing comes from Spirit. As a healer, I have had to work long and hard to detach from my personal ego. My not attaching to a particular outcome during the healing ceremony for you is necessary. There’s no place for ego in healing work.
My training came direct from the Spirit World. Across the years I have been shown how to help people with soul-related issues with a variety of techniques. Someone gave me an article on shamanism and told me that’s what I did. Years later I read several books on shamanism to understand these unusual ways of healing that came so automatically to me.

My power animal is the Badger which has the characteristics of self-assertiveness, boldness, cunning, single-minded commitment to a goal, groundedness, and being a keeper of stories. Badger energy perseveres in bringing creative solutions to conflict and crisis for people who feel like a victim. Like the Badger who digs in the earth, I dig in my garden and have knowledge about the healing power of plants and herbs.
Owl Visitor
Owl energy is another one of my power animals. A screech owl roosted on our back porch by the climbing rose during the daytime. It is most unusual to even see an owl in our Sonoran Desert and we feel honored to have this small “winged one” come to our house to hang out. Having an owl for a power animal represents wisdom from the European shamanic tradition. Owl energy brings awareness, clairvoyance, intuition, keen seeing and understanding and being comfortable with the Shadow parts. Owl works in the dark by the light of the moon and connects with messages from the unseen world.

If you are drawn to my work, you may have experienced me in another lifetime when I carried the energies of a healer. My traditions are many including Christian Mysticism, indigenous shamanism, the Bon religion which preceded Tibetan Buddhism, herbalism, Chinese energy medicine and several Native American tribes.
My articles on Healthy Relationships, Anger Management, Narcissism, Codependency, Abandonment and Bully Prevention are on my Psychology web site LynneNamka.com. I wear many hats—I am here to serve.
